Messiah - Well Done Everyone!

Jane Money
I'm sure you don't need me to tell you that last night really was YOUR night! The singing was tremendous - some incredibly agile runs, plenty of variety and a completely stunning "Since by man came death". It was a huge achievement and the cheers at the end seemed a spontaneous and sincere reaction to the performance as a whole. You should be very proud - even if you are exhausted today!

Congratulations to all our lovely soloists, Fiona Baines, Janet Ormerod, Anthony Hawgood, Darren Jones and of course, the fine semi-chorus. I shall be passing on your thanks to the orchestra - I thought they were excellent. Having Tim on continuo was a real delight too - and thanks to Ian for finding an amplifier to give just the right projection to the keyboard.

A big thank you to all those who worked so hard to make this concert happen - Bob for sorting St Barts and, once again, producing beautifully presented programmes, Ian for dealing with so many things, including the ever daunting ticket sales, Clare for the stylish programmes, Sheila, as always, for organising all the music, Tim for all the liaising and correspondence with the church, and last, but by no means least, Tony for getting us all organised on the day and making our audience so welcome (in spite of heckling from the back rows!)

You'll be sorry to hear that Steve Brown is moving to Guildford so that was his last concert with us (although actually we're hoping to get him back for the French exchange!) We do wish you well, Steve, and thank you for making such a fine contribution to the tenor section!

I'll look forward to seeing those of you who are doing the Advent Carols and/or St Dunstans concert on Wednesday at the Good Shepherd.

Best wishes and congratulations to you all, once again.
Jane
